Forte dei Marmi is renowned world wide as one of Tuscany's most exclusive and elegant beach resorts, favoured over the centuries by royalty, noblemen, diplomats, business-men and artists who built their villas in the shade of Forte's vast pine woods. Today, the area remains a favourite with wealth Tuscans and Milanese and some of the worlds most celebrated stars. The town is located around a jetty set up during the sixteenth century to ship the apuan marbles.
