A long time drummer for one of the world's most famous bands opens the doors of his marvellous holiday house situated in the gentle verdant hills between Tuscany and Umbria. (26 Km from Cortona) The owners bought their Tuscan home in 2000, succumbing to an infatuation with Italy after a family holiday and they have transformed this farmhouse into a beautifully finished holiday house.
In this 700-year-old manor, that fits snugly into the classic Tuscan getaway model, even a rock star can forgo a life of excess to embrace the quiet Italian dolce vita and the warm welcoming atmosphere created by the wood beam ceilings, the terracotta floors and decorative Deruta hand-made pottery.
Entering the gate, a gravel driveway, lined by cypresses, rosemary and sage bushes, leads you to this beautiful 2-storey stone house. Strolling around the gardens you won't help feeling relaxed facing the unspoilt nature of the valley and quietness that it provides. The villa's olive grove, that produces enough oil each year to give to friends as presents, gently embraces the property enhancing the Tuscan panorama. Discreetly positioned, the large a fully-equipped swimming pool, boasts a postcard-perfect view.
The house, with an area of 300 square meters, boasts a custom-designed gourmet kitchen with a large central island that is perfect for cooking classes.
Separated from the kitchen by a large stone archway, there is the living room, a cosy, light-filled room in every season, characterised by a superb fireplace and two large windows framing beautiful scenes of the unspoilt landscape and hillside.
The main house features four luxury bedrooms each with an en suite full bathrooms.
On the ground floor we find a single bedroom; on the upper floor 3 additional bedrooms, 2 of them with standard double bed and one boasts a beautiful kind sized bed. The master bedroom opens onto a large private porch where you can lounge watching the sunrise sipping your coffee or just reading a book in the enjoying the silence of the valley around you.
On the ground floor there is an additional restroom and a new laundry room featuring two washers and two dryers, ideal for big groups.
A large barn has been turned into an independent, 100-square-meter guesthouse that sleeps four extra guests in two separate bedrooms – a double and a twin sharing a full bathroom. The guesthouse includes as well a large open space with sitting area with solid period sofas and a fully equipped kitchen.
The property sprawls over 4.1 hectares of land offering privacy and silence but it is not completely isolated as other farmhouses are located not too far. There are neighbours then but you don't have the sense that they are near. A good restaurant is close to the property and a village is just a 5-minute drive away. The Medieval town of Umbertide is a short drive away, and the property is in the middle of a triangle formed by Cortona, Assisi and Città di Castello, with Lake Trasimeno, Perugia and Gubbio along the way. All are less than an hour away, and Spoleto, Pienza and Siena are an easy, lovely drive away.
