Set in the heart of a vast estate of rolling hills, vineyards and olive groves, recently renovated Villa Valerie has everything one might need for a wonderful vacation for larger groups, including its own private chapel and ballroom! It was Petrarch in the 14th century who advocated the country house as a place of rest and repose, starting the fashion for beautiful houses set in the hills, away from the heat of the city.
We were absolutely delighted when we visited this villa. The setting is idyllic, the standard of accommodation very high and the service locally unrivalled. There is an English speaking manager on site and there is a direct intercom from the villa to the manager. The attention to detail from the careful owners and the estate manager is excellent. Our guests can enjoy partial air-con in the villa, heated and fenced pool, children's playground, pizza oven, wifi.... The estate produces olive oil and various jams which are available to buy.
Situated only 700 m from the village of Ponte a Moriano and only 10km from Lucca city centre. It is possible to cycle into Lucca along the river path and even on into Pisa for the keen cyclists!
